Working In Thailand
Although this web site is about retiring in Thailand it would be nice to earn some extra cash doing something on the side, one thing I always tell folks are it is important to have some daily activity whether it be volunteering, becoming a member or finding some type of work in Thailand to keep your mental activity in check.
If you want to work in Thailand “You must have a work permit”, this is very important, if you are caught working illegally you could be fined, deported and even thrown in jail, so word to the wise, do the right thing.
A work permit may cost around 4,000 Baht which includes taxes and lawyer fees, this type of visa can usually set you up for either a 3 month or 1 year stay before renewal.
One important thing to remember when working in Thailand is your earning’s usually only a fraction of what you make in any Western country. Some typical jobs for foreigners in Thailand include teaching, hotel or restaurant manager and working online (Internet based).
A lot of folks dream of opening up a bar or restaurant in some of the popular resort areas around Thailand, my advice is be very careful and seek some good legal advice.
